Formed by Dave Jack, Stefan Kneist, Gary Drake and Karl Huff Acid Quean were an intense mix of Rock and Psychedelia tinged with experimental edges. Dave Jack left to join Silika Rich before leaving them to form Rock/Psychedelic/Reggea band Amino and The Acids. Dave was replaced by Ray Morley from Silika Rich on bass. Billy "Sticks" joined on drums. Ray Morley left to start Silika Rich whilst Gary and Billy went on to form Risque. Acid Quean and Silika Rich were both runners-up in the 1981 Rock Contest final. |

Alexis were Bob Spinks, bass, Tony Mooney, guitar, Alison Bailey, vocals, Dave Hepworth, guitar and Paul Downey on drums. They got to the final of Harlow Rock contest in 1981. Bob Spinks left to join Topaz and was replaced by Martin Fraser. Drummer Paul Downey was eventually replaced by Alan Mead. This line-up would eventually become Wise Guise. |

Jamming unit circa 1975-1977 consisting of Brian Wren, drums, "Culley", bass, Bill Sharpe, keyboards and Gypie Mayo on guitar. Alias were often seen jamming in The Triad, Stortford, or The Orange Footman. "We'd hit a groove and just go with it, usually a funky thing, and play the bollocks off it and quite often end up in a psychedelic miasma. Great fun". Gypie Mayo. Guests often included Roger O-Dell, drums, Keith Winter on guitar. Roger, Keith and Bill Sharpe went on to form SHAKATAK in the 80's and have a string of hits. |

Totally in a class of their own Amino and The Acids blended Hendrix type riffs with Reggea beats coming up with something totally original. They entered the Rock Contest in 1983 and were runners-up in the Final which was held at the old Odeon cinema. Recorded a demo tape in 1983 and a live tape from 1984 has also been unearthed. Amino and The Acids split up around 1985. |

Austins Shirts were Richard Holgarth, guitar and vocals, Mark Thomas, guitar, Gary Noone, guitar and vocals, Martin Wheeldon, bass, and Nick French on drums. They were joined occasionally on stage by regular guests, Michelle Cob, vocals, Attila The Stockbroker, violins/mandolin, Matt Randall, tambourine and harp, and the legendary Pete Brown on harp. They recorded a six track tape around 1984. Grant Bowden eventually replaced Nick on drums and was then replaced by Tim Boulton. They reached the Rock Contest final in 1985. |
